02/18/05 - Lamborghini Countach LP400 1974 from Kyosho. The car that substituted the famous Miura could not be left out of my bull stable. Only 299 units were made of the 1:1, and it was capable of 316 Km/h (196 Mph) and a 0 - 100 Km/h (0-60 mph) in just 5.6 seconds!A masterpiece by Kyosho, the Countach is one of the best cars from Lamborghini of my entire collection. The paint job is just perfect, absolutely flawless, and the few sayings written on the car were tampo-printed. All four wheels have functional suspensions, and are elegantly recreated. The only thing that I can complain about (and very little) is that the tires are not marked.

The front of the car is truely amazing, with retractable headlights. To pop the headlights up, you have to press a little button beneath the headlight on the passenger's side, that pushes them up.

The elegant rear end of the Countach was masterfully recreated, with one of the most gorgeous pair of exhaust pipes I ever saw in 1:18. Naturally, the tail light lenses are made of colored plastic. Besides the pop-up headlights, you can open the front spare tire compartment, the engine compartment, a small trunk behind the engine and both doors. The doors open in scissor style, and this was the car that made these kind of doors famous all over the world. Very different from my Diablo GTR, here the doors are supported by small pistons just like in the real car, and are far from flimsy. Autoart should ask Kyosho about how to properly make this kind of door.

The spare tire compartment is well made, and behind the tire you can see the battery, cabled and all. Behind the engine there is a small trunk, carpeted.

The engine is awesome. Totally cabled and full of individualized details, it's a beauty, and is almost a perfect replica of the V12 with 3929cm³ (239,8 ci) of displacement seen on the real car. I don't know if you noticed, but the ventilation grill, on the inferior lid of the engine cover, is made with a very delicate real metal mesh.

The interior is also spetacular. The floor is carpeted, the dashboard is very well made and the seats are very realistic, and look as if they are covered in real leather. Seat belts are made of nylon cloth and the buckles are photo-etched metal. Just beautiful!

When you look at the undercarriage, the first thing that grabs your attention is the finely detailed rear suspension. And better yet, it really works! I confess that the Countach is not my favorite Lamborghini, but this model is one of the best cars in my collection, without a doubt. Another great car, that should be in any collection just because it's so good. For those who collect cars from Lamborghini or classic sports cars, it's a must. Double cheers for my friend Richard Mathison who got me and sent this car all the way from Canada .
